This authentic, hand-painted, original Oil Painting dates to the 19th Century and presents a close-up portrait of an elderly sitter with pale hair and a dark, muted background. The surface shows aged varnish and a fine network of craquelure, with visible brushwork in the hair and facial modeling that lends texture to the paint. The carved wooden surround seen at the edges complements the sombre tones and confirms the work’s period character. One of a kind and clearly original, this portrait will add a quietly powerful presence to a collector’s holdings. 19th Century.
